I don't 'love' them, they don't make me smile, or laugh, or really anything except they've become part of my morning routine to wake up and do something mentally interesting along the way. I don't 'enjoy' doing crossword puzzles the way others seem to do them. I like to be put in my place by puzzles sometimes, and encountering clues that make me have to take an educated stab at the answers remind me of starting out. Of course you're entitled to your opinion but I see so many posts on this subreddit by people who sound legitimately physically enraged by obscure fill and I just don't get it. I get WAY more upset when the theme sucks or is inconsistent than I do with the actual fill, and I thought today's theme was extremely clever. But it's actually kind of refreshing when I encounter a puzzle with a lot of trivia I'm unfamiliar with because I know I'm gonna learn something new by the end of it (just like when I was starting out). Sure, as we all improved we all got used to being able to solve pretty much every NYT puzzle with enough patience and focus any day of the week. When we were all starting out there were always tons of clues we didn't know and we had no problem accepting there was some obscure trivia we just didn't have access to in our own brains.
